In the mist of free restroom facilities for motorists at rest stops and fuel stations road Minister for Ghana, Kwasi Amoako-Attah announces Washrooms to replace tollbooths
But the road minister for Ghana, Kwasi Amoako-Attah has announced governments’ plan to turn abandoned tollbooths into decent washrooms for use by motorists.
His remarks is in response to the call by National Road Safety Authority for the removal of the non-functioning booths to prevent road accidents. He was however silent on how the government intends to effect this plan.
Some Ghanaians in a telephone conversation with nutis.org think it is absurd to have toilets in the middle of road. Victor from Nkawkaw asks ‘’so tollbooths in the middle of the are a nuisance but toilets are not? What kind of thinking is this?” He asks further ‘’ so where would the vehicles park to make way for people to use the washrooms?’’
Rashid in Accra says “this people are not serious with us at all. We swallow everything they tell us so of course they will do as they will to us”
People on social media think this is hilarious and questioned the wisdom in Mr. Amoako-Attah’s saying “we want to refurbish all Tollbooth structures to provide proper and decent washrooms for use by motorists to avoid situations where motorists stop to ease themselves indiscriminately.” when he met with contractors.

The minister in that meeting with leaders of Road Contractors Association, urged them to support the implementation of the E-levy in order that they get paid monies owed them by government.
On November 18, 2021, the collection of road tolls on all public roads was scrapped by the Roads and Highways Ministry.
