Police sergeant in viral video smoking narcotic interdicted

The Police Administration has interdicted Sgt. Isaac Nii Sowah, stationed at the Accra Regional Police Command, who was captured in uniform smoking a substance suspected to be a narcotic drug.
 
Police have said the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the Sergeant will be taken through the necessary disciplinary and legal action.
 
In addition, he would be given the necessary psycho-social support in line with the new strategic police welfare policy, the police added.

Armed robber sentenced to 16 years imprisonment in hard labour.

In another development, an armed robber who was arrested by the Police at Sefwi Nketieso in the Western Region has been handed a 16-year jail term by the court.
The convict, Isaac Addae, on May 29, 2022, visited his victim, a gold buyer, under the pretext of selling him some gold.
When the victim took him to his room to weigh the said gold, Isaac Addae pulled out a knife, stabbed him, robbed him of an amount of GH¢15,000.00 and a mobile phone.
On June 9, 2022, he was given 16 years imprisonment in hard labour by the court after he pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.

Police allegedly shoot apprentice in Upper East Region; relatives call for justice

The family of an apprentice who was allegedly shot by the Police in the Upper East Region has given more details about the aftereffect of the incident.

 

 

According to the family, their beloved relative sustained two gunshots from the Police after the motor rider she was riding when she failed to heed calls by the officers to stop for random inspection at the checkpoint.

 

 

Speaking to JoyNews, the victim’s brother, Godwin Wuni, disclosed that the bullets that perforated her body are yet to be removed. However, she was admitted to Bolgatanga Hospital for more than 24 hours.

 

 

A situation, Mr Wuni said, has generated fear amongst the family since their might lose her.
“They’ve not been able to remove the bullets, so they are still in her body. According to the doctor, if she were bleeding, they would have called for surgery, but she isn’t bleeding much; there wouldn’t be any surgery, but they would prescribe drugs that can manage the situation.
“For us [the family], we are not certain we are still afraid because we don’t know what is happening,” Mr Wuni said.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Upper East Police Command, ASP David Otchere –Fianko said the incident resulted from the motor rider crashing the barricade.
Thus, they have launched investigations into the case.

Aflao: POLICE INTENSIFY SAFETY EDUCATION FOR MOTOR RIDERS

The Aflao District Police Command has organized yet another sensitization program  for Motor and Tricycle riders to ensure safety on the roads before, during and after the  festive season.

 

The event took place on the Victoria Park in Aflao on Wednesday December 22, 2021 and brought together over 100 Commercial Motor and Tricycle riders.

Superintendent Obrako Sarpong Bempah, the Aflao District Police Commander explained portions of the road traffic regulations to the riders.  He encouraged the riders to register their motorbikes and tricycles, insure them and renew their road worthiness certificates as required by law.

 

Superintendent Bempah supported by the Ketu Divisional Crime Officer DSP Eric Vondee, warned motorbike riders with  foreign registration numbers within the area for commercial purposes to desist from such illegality immediately or risk being arrested and prosecuted.

 

The engagement formed part of a series of such programmes  organized across the Volta region to ensure that road accidents are brought to the barest minimum.
